Cheaper loans for Belarusian business soon
The cost of credit resources for Belarusian business is supposed to go down soon. The opinion was voiced by Vice Premier of Belarus Piotr Prokopovich at the out session of the Entrepreneurship Promotion Council in Grodno on 6 February, BelTA has learned. The Vice Premier believes that the affordability of credit resources is one of the most urgent matters for Belarusian businessmen right now. It is also a major problem that hinders the development of small and medium business. Piotr Prokopovich remarked that relevant work with the government and the banking community is in progress. Certain results have been achieved, but not the targeted ones. The cost of domestic resources cannot be 4-5 times above the inflation inside the country, said the official. According to the Vice Premier, the situation may be changed for the better within the next few months. At least it is necessary to return the cost of loans to the level registered in H2 2013, he stressed. The other important problems that hinder the development of private business and export intentions include difficulties involved in customs procedures, VAT return, the imperfect mechanism for delaying payments. According to the Vice Premier, none of the problems is impossible to resolve. These problems pester small, medium private business as well as major state-run enterprises. Instructions will be issued to government agencies and businessmen unions to look into the problems and work out decisions at the legislative level and, if necessary, at the international level, said Piotr Prokopovich.
