The economic relations between Belarus and Georgia could be more intensive, BelTA learnt from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus Georgy Chkheidze who is on a working trip to Grodno on 11 April. According to the diplomat, in recent years the two countries have been signaling their intention to step up economic cooperation

The embassy conducts these forums jointly with the Economy Ministry of Belarus, the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, Belarusian, Lithuanian and Finnish businessmen.

The administration of Grodno Oblast should promptly resolve existing problems, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he received a working report from Grodno Oblast governor Semyon Shapiro about the social and economic development of the oblast on 29 March

This is the first export delivery for the Belarusian company. “The first, 40-tonne, batch has been shipped to Israel. Another 100 tonnes will be sent there in the neat future. 100 tonnes more will be delivered to Israel by the end of March,” Nikolai Pokholok noted

The new tannery will be located in Grodno. This is going to be a full-cycle production tannery. It will produce leather for footwear, haberdashery and furniture which will not be inferior to foreign analogues.

Last year Grodno products were first exported to Mali, Cuba, Senegal, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Zambia, Burkina Faso, South Africa and Uruguay. Grodno enterprises also expanded into the markets of Norway, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Ghana, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Venezuela and Algeria

About 150 ha of land plots will be needed soon to implement the investment projects by the FEZ resident companies. Now Grodnoinvest has only 47 ha of vacant territory with developed engineering infrastructure. The FEZ administration said that it is necessary to build the engineering networks on the total area of about 103 ha to make sure the investment projects run on schedule. This will require more than Br17.8 billion

The main hydropower equipment is now being assembled at the new Grodno hydroelectric plant began (phase three). Chief engineers of Mavel, a supplier of equipment from the Czech Republic, have arrived at the construction site to oversee the works

Belarus’ first regional Aarhus center is being created in Grodno within the framework of the joint project of the European Union and the United Nations Development Program “Support to the development of a comprehensive framework for international environmental cooperation in the Republic of Belarus”
